Since I am still editing through my photographs from Palm Springs, I thought I would share some of the photos I took with my iphone. The whole trip I found myself trying to balance taking photos with my camera and my iphone. Sometimes holding one in each hand. Yet still I didn't get some of the shots I wanted to. I am sure many of you fellow photographers and bloggers out there struggle as I do, with putting the camera or phone away. It's hard when what you do professionally intersects with your life. How do you know when to enjoy a moment and not document it?
AND WE'RE OFF...
We're headed to The Ace Hotel Palm Springs today with two of our dearest friends for pool time, relaxation and laughter. I can't wait to share photos with you all when I get back- in the mean time you can follow me on instagram {@sweetthing_} for a little look at our adventures.

The weather yesterday was so incredible it made me want to pack a picnic, hop in my imaginary convertible and take a drive up the coast. I love spur of the moment adventures, don't you? Sometimes being a tourist in your own city reminds you how much you love it.
SNAPSHOTS FROM MARIN
These shots were taken over Christmas in Marin. Believe it or not, half of them were taken with my iPhone (can you guess which ones?). Our first night at the Ranch the temperature was somewhere in the 20's which felt cozy and festive. We woke up to frost on all the grass and plants and in the sun it sparkled almost like snow. It has been magical to keep returning back here and capturing the seasons. This time felt noticeably wintry- the usually lush garden was in hibernation and the trees were bare and gray. As someone who grew up with Christmas in southern California, it was a welcomed change.
Somehow it's the weekend again! This week seemed to fly by. Do you have anything planned? We are thinking about checking out Pacific Standard Time, before it's too late. Happy Weekend! xo
SNAPSHOTS FROM OUR HOLIDAY
Since the year is coming to a close, I thought I would leave you with one last post. These past few weeks have been exactly what I needed. I have barely turned on my computer and I kind of love it. Although I must admit, I haven't been completely disconnected. I've been busy taking and sharing photos of our holiday on Instagram. All of these photos above were taken with my iPhone 4s. Isn't it amazing what an iPhone can do? It has really made photography accessible to so many. These were all taken in San Francisco and Marin, where we spent Christmas. I have yet to look through the photographs from my camera, but I am sure there will be a few worth sharing.
Any fun plans for New Years Eve? We are still trying to decide. Neither one of us are feeling like getting fancy this year. The more I think about it, staying in with some delicious food and champagne sounds just perfect. I will be back to regular posting after the new year. I adore all of my sweet readers! Thank your for making this past year so incredible! Happy New Year! xo
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Happy holidays to all of my sweet readers! I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your loved ones. It's my first Christmas with the boy's family and I am looking forward to new traditions, relaxation time and of course cuddles with James' three adorable nieces.
COCKTAIL TIME
Since it's that time of year when cocktails are flowing, I thought I would share two of my current favorites.
I first discovered the 19th Century at Raines Law in New York City two years ago. Ever since then it has become my absolute favorite cocktail. I only know of one bar in LA that serves this drink and it's a wonderful little speak easy called Varnish. Since this drink can be hard to find, I make it at home for my friends. I promise it's sure to impress!
The Aperol Spritz is a new discovery and something I find myself craving a lot. Aperol is a slightly bitter orange liquor and combined with the sweetness of the sparkling wine It ends up being such a refreshing cocktail and so easy to make. It is an aperitif, so it would be lovely to serve before a meal.
WINTER DREAMING
1/2/3/4/5/6
It's hard to believe that winter doesn't technically begin until December 22nd because it feels quite wintry here in LA. It has been in the 40's at night and all I want to do is curl up with a Pendleton blanket and some hot cocoa {like that lavender hot cocoa above, yum!}. Any fun plans for the weekend? I am looking forward to finishing my Christmas shopping and watching one of my favorite holiday movies- Love Actually.
Happy Weekend! xo

THANKSGIVING TRADITIONS
1/2/3/4/5/6
Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday and I am thrilled it's almost here. I am so looking forward to spending the next few days in my hometown, eating delicious food with family and friends. Our Thanksgiving dinner is usually a mix of my mother's New England upbringing and her best friend's southern one. Really the best of both worlds. I find comfort in tradition and I can always count on two things- my mom getting teary eyed while giving a speech about how thankful she is and that we'll end our night playing either running charades or celebrity. Do you have any traditions that wouldn't feel like Thanksgiving with out?

6. Jute Twine $3.35
I saw these beautifully wrapped presents on oh, hello friend and was immediately inspired by their simplicity. I love the idea of using kraft paper and twine as wrapping because it is seasonless. Attaching an old photo or a guinea feather makes is feel personal. For the holidays you could dress it up with a sparkly gift tag or a sprig of pine.
SNAPSHOTS FROM OUR CHRISTMAS PARTY
I had so much fun at our holiday party this past weekend. I was too busy talking to friends to remember to stop and take photos, but I got a few quick ones in of the spread before people arrived.
James ended up bringing the camera out much later in the night and between him and the extraordinary Jesse B. I have some fun pics to share. I only wish I had captured more of my friends throughout the night! I have a HUGE smile on my face in every photo, so I must have been having a blast. We didn't manage any full outfit photos, but I am wearing a lovely Rebecca Taylor number I promise to photograph again...

ITS BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE...
Christmas!
Oh my, this week seriously flew by. I am having a little Holiday soiree this weekend and I have been a busy bee, decorating the house and grabbing any last bits and bobs. I do love having friends over during the holidays. There is something about the colder nights, I just want to light a fire in my fireplace, drink peppermint hot cocoa and socialize with friends.
I just put the finishing touches on my house. Here it is, decorated for the holidays...
