The last few weeks have seemed to fly by. I blinked and somehow it's mid April. While I have yet to break out a spring dress, the flowers are blooming and the air smells sweet. This weekend is the first weekend of Coachella. The city seems emptier during Coachella and it's a time I have grown to love in LA. There is part of me that wishes I was going this year, but having a slightly more peaceful city sounds nice too. Here is a little look at my life of late and a few of the sweet things making me smile...

Looking over my photos from the last few weeks reminds me that life is good. I've stayed busy with work, seen some great bands play, been to a friend's Groundlings show and even had a 2am dance party in our friend's living room. I'd say I'm one lucky gal. Here is a little look into my life of late and the sweet things making me smile...

PALM {SPRING BREAK}
Since I am still editing through my photographs from Palm Springs, I thought I would share some of the photos I took with my iphone. The whole trip I found myself trying to balance taking photos with my camera and my iphone. Sometimes holding one in each hand. Yet still I didn't get some of the shots I wanted to. I am sure many of you fellow photographers and bloggers out there struggle as I do, with putting the camera or phone away. It's hard when what you do professionally intersects with your life. How do you know when to enjoy a moment and not document it?

Thank goodness it's friday. This week felt longer than normal- I kept thinking it was a day later then it actually was. James filmed a short at our house earlier this week which is very exciting, but may have affected my sense of time with the late nights. The last few weeks I've been trying to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Working at my computer all day can take a tole on my body and spirit. But sometimes it's as simple as a walk to the coffee shop to turn that around. Here is a little look into my life of late and a few of the sweet things making me smile...
THE STUDIO
Sometimes I share instagram photos of the studio where I work on tuesdays, but I realize I haven't talked about that much on the blog-
Every tuesday I work for my dad in Venice at his gorgeous photography studio, just blocks from the beach. I started working with him when I moved to LA, nine years ago {can you believe it!}. When I started It was just something to do on the side, I never thought I could BE a photographer. I had always had a passion for it- in high school I never went anywhere without my camera and cost my parents a fortune in film development. Through working with my dad, I finally got the confidence to start my own business and I guess the rest in history. There is almost nothing that makes me happier than taking photographs and it has been one of the true joys of my life, getting to learn from someone who's work inspires me endlessly.
Over time my dad's assistant Kristen, who had been scanning and archiving his collection of photos, taught me how to use photoshop. I ended up taking over her job when she left and to this day feel so indebted to her. Kristen sparked my passion for photoshop which has surpassed retouching photos to exploring graphic design.
I continue to assist my dad for major shoots, retouch and archive his photographs both new and old. Working with my dad has allowed me to know him in a way I wouldn't otherwise and for that I feel grateful.

Happy Weekend!
LATELY
The last few weeks have been pretty packed, but it feels really great to be busy. I've not only been working, but also spending time catching up with friends. The weather has been downright dreamy, which has put me in such a good mood. I almost feel like I'm on a springtime high- feeling happier than I have in sometime. I am so grateful for this life I have created for myself and the people in it. Here is a little look in into my life of late and a few of the sweet things making me smile...

The last few weeks have been different to say the least. I have been on a cleanse/diet which I will spare you the boring details of, but has forced me to slow down. Since most social events, restaurants and bars have been off the table, I have been focusing on other things that make me happy like cooking at home, watching movies and taking walks around my neighborhood. I made myself a promise that I wouldn't buy one piece of clothing until this cleanse was over and let me tell you, it's been difficult but I've stayed true to my word. I've got one more week to go, but in the meantime here are a few things that have made these past weeks so sweet...
Happy weekend everyone! xo

The last few weeks have been really quite fun now that I think about it. My mom came to visit a few times, which resulted in a trip to the LA Modern & Contemporary Art Show, a big closet clean out and my office/dressing room feeling more put together thanks to her amazing eye. I got to see my first professional sporting event, catch up with old friends and cross some restaurants off our "must try" list. Here is a little photographic look at some of the highlights...
SNAPSHOTS FROM OUR HOLIDAY
Since the year is coming to a close, I thought I would leave you with one last post. These past few weeks have been exactly what I needed. I have barely turned on my computer and I kind of love it. Although I must admit, I haven't been completely disconnected. I've been busy taking and sharing photos of our holiday on Instagram. All of these photos above were taken with my iPhone 4s. Isn't it amazing what an iPhone can do? It has really made photography accessible to so many. These were all taken in San Francisco and Marin, where we spent Christmas. I have yet to look through the photographs from my camera, but I am sure there will be a few worth sharing.
Any fun plans for New Years Eve? We are still trying to decide. Neither one of us are feeling like getting fancy this year. The more I think about it, staying in with some delicious food and champagne sounds just perfect. I will be back to regular posting after the new year. I adore all of my sweet readers! Thank your for making this past year so incredible! Happy New Year! xo
Yup, that's right- I finally got an iPhone and practically the first thing I did was sign up for Instagram. Having a phone that takes such amazing photos has already changed my life. If you'd like to follow me please do @sweetthing_. If you aren't on Instagram, not to worry, I will be posting my photos on twitter as well.
How was your Thanksgiving weekend? Mine was perhaps my favorite one yet. We ate delicious food, spent time with friends and family, played lots of celebrity, went to the movies and I didn't pick up my computer once. Heaven. I can't wait to share photos with you!
