BEHIND THE BLOG // STYLE ME PRETTY LIVING

A few weeks ago I was photographed {on film} by the insanely talented Bryce Covey for Style Me Pretty Living's Behind the Blog feature. As a photographer it can be difficult to give up control and let someone photograph you, but after looking through Bryce's gorgeous portfolio, I knew I'd be in good hands. I never get to be photographed in action, or with my cameras, so it was quite a treat for me and I will cherish these photos always. SMP Living launched a few months ago and It is packed with beautiful house tours, party ideas and even fashion roundups. Of course my favorite feature is Behind the Blog and I am thrilled to be part of it. I hope you'll check out my interview as well as many more photos from our shoot.

BLOGOVERSARY

I can hardly believe it, but over the weekend Sweet Thing turned three. This blog has completely changed my life in ways I never could have dreamed and it would be nothing without all of you darling readers. I can't thank you enough for coming back here day after day. Here's to many more years. Now I'm going to eat my mini cake. Cheers!

LATELY

Thank goodness the weekend is here. Not that the weekend really has any meaning as a freelancer, but I do plan on attempting to catch up on pretty much everything. I apologize for the the radio silence over here lately. I've been juggling lots of work {can't complain} and putting the finishing touches on my breakout session for Lucky FABB. I'm starting to get to that point where I just can't do it all. An intern of some sort is feeling inevitable, which is exciting but also terrifies me. I know my fears as a freelance artist are quite common. I'm sure many of you struggle with the business side of your careers. When do you finally give in, release a little control and say I just can't do this alone? I'm about to start reading Lean In for my book group and feel like it couldn't come at a better time. In the mean time, here is a little look at my life of late and a few of the sweet things making me smile...

HAPPY WEEKEND

This week has been crazy to say the least. Practically every minute of every day has been scheduled, both night and day and it's going to continue through the weekend. Luckily It's all fun stuff- like photo shoots, art openings, concerts and even a wine tasting bachelorette party in Santa Barbara. But, come monday I'm sure I'll be ready to sleep for a hundred years. Isn't it funny how everything seems to happen all at once in life? It's rarely perfectly spaced out, whether it's work or social. What about you- what have you got planned for this fine spring weekend?

LUCKY FABB WEST

I am very excited to announce that I will be speaking at the year's Lucky FABB conference on April 4th-5th in LA! I will be teaching an hour long breakout session on blog photography with fellow photographer Kimberly Genevieve. We will be covering everything you need to know about getting beautiful images for your blog, whether it be style shots or vignettes. We'll give you all the professional tips and tricks, so that your blog stands out. Also side note- Drew Barrymore is one of the keynotes! It's going to be so fun. I sure hope to see you there!

If you would like to attend, e-mail FABBTicketing@gmail.com with your full name and blog URL with the subject “FABB West Tickets”. Lucky will go through each entry and be in touch.

Luckily this last week things have mellowed out just a bit. I've had slightly more time to finish up photo projects and sneak in a little time with friends as well. I've started taking daily walks around the Silver Lake reservoir, which is so necessary since I spend so much time at my computer. The weather can't seem to make up it's mind these days, but I prefer it that way. One day I get to wear my Hunter wellies and the next I'm pulling out a summer dress. It sure keeps things interesting. I've got quite a busy weekend ahead full of celebrations. I'm quite looking forward to it. What about you, do you have anything fun planned or do will you be taking it easy?

HAPPY WEEKEND

I had every intention of blogging this week, but my photographic obligations had to take precedence. As my career grows I am finding it more and more difficult to post here five days a week. I hope you'll bear with me as I attempt this balancing act.
Any fun plans for the weekend? I have loads of photo editing to do, but instead of doing it at home like usual, I plan to hunker down at a coffee shop. I figure It might feel slightly more like a weekend if I'm surrounded by people. Wishing you all a beautiful weekend, whatever you do!

LATELY

Hello March, hello weekend. That feels so good to write. The last few weeks have been some of the busiest of my life work wise, which has been both exhausting and amazing. I've barely come up for air, but the few times I have I've been happily decorating and settling into my new house. I feel absolutely giddy each morning I wake up here. This is one of the first weekends in a while that I only have one photo shoot, so I'll have some time to catch up on emails (sorry everyone, so behind on this) and blog reading. I haven't read another blog in over a month and I feel like something's missing in my life. Thank goodness for Instagram, which has been my way to still feel connected to you all. Here is a little look at my life of late and a few of the sweet things making me smile...

Just as January seemed to go by at a snails pace, February is going by at warp speed. How is this month halfway over? This week has been spent painting and moving into my new house and while I'd love to take the weekend to unpack and organize, I have lots of photo jobs sure to keep me far too busy. Oh well, It'll just have to wait. As soon as I have some time on my hands, I promise to share a few more photos of the place. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Here is a little look at my life of late and a few of the sweet things making me smile...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

I find it quite fitting that on this very day 10 years ago I moved to Los Angeles. I've had quite a love affair with this city and I find it just too perfect that today I am moving into a new home. Excited doesn't even begin to describe how I feel. I love that I will be walking distance to many of my favorite shops, restaurants and friends. I couldn't think of a better way to spend this day. LA, I love you more than ever. Happy Valentine's Day.

HAPPY WEEKEND

Happy weekend! I am so very happy friday is here. I have no shoots scheduled this weekend, so I'll have some time to spend with friends, catch up on photo editing and check out some fashion shows online. What about you, any fun plans? Do you like to keep up with fashion week?

Happy February 1st. Was it just me or did January seem endless? Probably because January was all about waiting. Waiting to find a place, waiting to move. I did quite enjoy myself, even though I've been living in limbo. I am just one of those people who's space is very important to them. I spend so much time at home photo editing or blogging, that if my space feels chaotic or messy It's hard for me to focus. Because my home has been all of those things, I've been trying to spend as much time away as possible. Going to museums, working in coffee shops or picnicking in the park. It's been pretty fun actually. It's like I am a tourist in my own city, which is a wonderful feeling since I've lived in LA almost ten years. I highly recommend trying it. HAPPY WEEKEND

Happy weekend! I took this photo in downtown LA earlier this week because I loved the building. They sure don't make them like they used to. Spending time downtown always reminds me that I live in a city. I love to imagine the street cars of the 20's and people dressing up to go to one of the many deco theaters. Sadly most of those theaters have turned in to cheap clothing shops or electronics stores, but a few beauties still remain.

These are some of the images currently inspiring me for my new place. The house is a 100 year old craftsman with a lot of character,  so I want to add some modern elements to balance it out. It's times like this where pinterest really comes in handy, right?

The last few weeks have been a little all over the place with emotion. I have been packing up my house, living and working from home during construction, all the while trying to find a new place. On the bright side, I finally found a house that I will be moving into in just one months time. This new place feels right in so many ways. It is totally adorable and while I'm ridiculously excited about my new neighborhood and the memories I'll make there, It's still difficult saying goodbye to my current house that I've known and loved for seven years. Alas, it's time for new, new, new... new year, new life, new me. Here is a little look at my life of late and a few of the sweet things making me smile...
Happy Weekend! xo

BONNE ANNÉE

Happy new year my friends! I just got back from Tahoe and while it was very hard to leave, I am quite thrilled to be back sleeping in my own bed. Now that the holidays are over it's time for me to get serious again about finding a new place and tackling my ever growing inbox. Have I mentioned how excited I am about this new year ahead? Lot's of big changes are on the horizon, some scary and some welcomed. What are you most looking forward to about this new year?

LATELY

Today I am driving up north to meet a few friends before we head up to Tahoe. It's a long drive to do alone, but I've made sure I've got music and a few audiobooks to keep me company.
As this year comes to a close I can't help but get sentimental. I don't want my breakup to overshadow what an incredible year I've had. I try to remind myself that one day, I'll look back on this time and be grateful for all the lessons it's taught me. Every sadness or disappointment that I've had in my life has brought me somewhere even better than I could have imagined. A day will come where everything will feel right, and all of this will make sense. Here is a little look at my life of late and a few of the sweet things making me smile...
Happy Weekend! xo
